Moonlight rolled in with the dark shadows following closely behind. A girl stepped out from the bushes, half crouched, ears tensing for the slightest sound. Her bow and arrow made of ebony oak was slung over her shoulder, she draped her black silk hair behind her shoulder. Silently she flung her bow into position and notched it into place. the white feathers glittering malicously. The arrow zipped into the air, passing harmlessly between houses and walls, until it hit the doorbell of the last house. Lights flew on in exasperation and the door flung open. A man stood in his night gown as if waiting.
She stood up from behind the bushes, and walked as gracefully as a gazelle, manuevering slowly toward the man. Her skirt made of tanned deer skin fluttered behind her, nets made of vines covered her thigh, holding small viles of who knew what, she wore a green blouse and a small bag tied around her neck where coins lay. She stood at his doorstep, and he looked at her paralyzed in shock and fear. She laughed a small musical laugh.
"The night creature asks for payment. She has come to gather payment", he stood and stared at her as if he could not understand a word she had spoken, shivering in his socks, standing in the summer air. She smiled, "Death comes in many forms, but it usually comes at night" She lunged.
