Copper felt thirty strong arms grip him. Pinning him down so he couldn't run to Susan. His Susan. Her platinum braids shined in the sunlight but was torn by the rough hands of the soldiers as they grabbed her. He seemed to have fallen into a pit, everything seemed so far away. He vaguely heard her screaming his name. He barely felt his muscles ripple and stab into the soldiers back. He felt magic well up in his body. He barely felt his hands grip the large sword. He swung it, the bodies of the soldiers crippled as they met the cursed metal. And then Susan's petite self was gone. The soldiers had gotten away with her. His Susan. He could still hear her echoing screams of his name, "Copper!"
Copper's blonde hair drifted in the air. He touched the metal wolf talisman on his coat. He didn't know why this memory pierce him as he looked upon the hills. Maybe it was because the contours of the hills looked like the sea.
"Hey Copper?", her voice although high pitched and her body small, was full of confidence for they both grew up on the streets together.
"Copper?"
"Yea?"
"Have you ever been to the sea before?"
"No" There was silence as they watched the sun rise beneath purple clouds. He was so small then.
"I want to go", Susan said, her platinum hair brushed back, she grabbed her knees and rocked back and forth. She stared at the sun dreamily saying,
"I want to be in the presence of the sea! The vast everything! Smelling the sea salt and being able to burymy toes in the sand..." she wandered off dreamily. She snapped back and requested,
"Copper, Promise me you'll bring me to see the sea"
"I promise" She smiled, all her white teeth flayed out and the sun's radiance sparkling behind her as a halo.
"You promised!"
But I never got to bring you to the sea Susan... We never ever got that far... The sky that day was as bright as Susan's platnum hair, but it was unforgiving.
